Ziedojam latviešu namam! // Information about the Brisbane Latvian hall

Saule Ltd would like to thank all those who responded to our fundraiser last year. We received $1400 and these funds will help the Hall continue to function during 2012. We hope for your continued
financial assistance!

Rental of the hall In recent years the Hall is rarely used during weekdays—only once a month on Tuesdays when the
retiree group meets. Saule Ltd has therefore been actively looking for rental opportunities to fill these
vacant times. This has been successful—from February 2012 our community hall will also be used by
2 dance schools and several craft groups!

The downstairs hall has been cleaned and is also available for our use, or can be used as back-up
space for the Latvian community, should the need arise during times when the main hall is let.

2012 prices
Rental cost for regular users is $20 an hour. Events are priced at $50-$80 an hour. Renters from
outside the Latvian community are required to sign a contract and pay a bond.

Rental guidelines Karl Manning, our legal advisor, has prepared a Rental Contract outlining all requirements. Saule
Ltd asks all renters, including Latvian community users, to comply with the security and cleaning
guidelines, which are displayed inside the Hall on the right of the main entry. We can’t afford to pay a
cleaner or caretaker, and therefore rely on those using the hall to leave it clean and locked after use.

We are very thankful to Karl Manning for donating his time to help resolve our legal issues. We are
planning a community meeting in May 2012 to resolve financial issues dating back to 1970-1980. We
can only do this with the support of the wider Latvian community and hope many of you will attend.

Maintenance We continue to ask for help with maintenance of the grounds. Please contact Graeme Taylor (3378
8072) to volunteer a few hours during the year. Your team mates will be Graeme, Edvīns, Andris,
Adolfs and Andrejs.

The Hall windows shine and sparkle thanks to Indy (David Indriksons), who has started his own
business Vision Technician (0429 872 763)—see also his advertisement in the Newsletter on page 8.
He willingly donates his time, equipment and expertise for the benefit of the hall.

Brigita Liepiņa also continues to tirelessly donate her time to ensure that the Latvian community are
welcomed to any function, by preparing the hall and providing beautiful flower arrangements.

At times we have to pay for unexpected maintenance works creating unavoidable extra expenditure,
which can be costly, and consequently we need your continued support and financial assistance.

Become a Saule Ltd member! Saule Ltd invites you to become a member ($50 fee annually), or simply to make a donation to support
the needs of the Brisbane Latvian Hall. We are sincerely grateful for your support during 2011 and
hope that you continue to show your interest in the future of the Brisbane Latvian community!
